Two out of our three backyard 8-10 ft deodar cedar trees' needles are turning yellow and dropping to the ground. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

Thanks Diane

What you describe can be natural. It's called flagging and cedar trees do this every year. If the yellowing foliage is random, throughout the tree, and towards the centers of the branches where the oldest foliage is, it's perfectly normal. If the new growth is yellowing and it's all over the tree, there's a root stress problem. Hope this information provides some guidance.
