When is it ok to prune a hydrangia bush?

You can prune your hydrangeas in the early spring, just as the leaf buds begin to swell on the branches. If the leaves have already developed and new stems are growing you may slow or stop the flowering process if you prune now. If this is the case you may want to wait and prune your hydrangeas back next spring.
