I just bought two rose tress from home depot in Brownsville Texas we have been geeting alot of rain so I have not planted them in the soil yet. But on had alot of roses fully blommed. The flower petals are falling. Do I cut what is left on the branch? Do I need to cut some of the stem? |
Cutting off the dead flowers, along with a section of the stem will encourage new flower development. I cut mine back to a 5-leaflet leaf. This is where new flowering stems will emerge. Just follow the stem from the spent flower to the first 5-leaflet leaf and make your pruning cut there. Best wishes with your new roses! |
