Could the Jamaican fruit Ackee (Blighia sapida) be grown in north Florida (Zone 8)?

According to the California Rare Fruit Growers, the Akee (also listed in the literature as Ackee) will be damaged when temperatures drop to 32 degrees and wiill likely be killed by temperatures of 27 and below. Therefore, they would not be adapted to growing in your area without a lot of special protective measures to prevent freezing.
