|I am removing a fruitless pair tree out of my front yard because it is cracking the driveway with its roots. I currently have english ivy around the base. I am afraid it will bake in the hot summer sun her in Fresno, CA. What could I put in the place of the tree? I wanted to put a couple of rose bushes, but I wasn't sure if that was a great idea. Any thoughts?

|If the ivy has been shaded, it probably will burn in the hot summer sunshine but I also think that it will recover and develop new leaves which will be more sun tolerant. Roses thrive in full sunshine so they are a good choice for a sunny spot. Lilac or flowering quince will also grow well there. Best wishes with your new plants.
