I live in the low desert and am looking for summer flowers. I want some height, and am tired of vincas. Any suggestion? They will receive full sun and will be next to the house.

Most perennials flower in the spring and fall in the low desert but there are a few exceptions. Try planting Bee Balm, Black Eyed Susan, Butterfly Weed, Celosia, Coreopsis, Cosmos, Gaillardia, Mexican Hat, Mexican sunflower, Scabiosa and Portulaca.
