Boston Fern - Knowledgebase Question

Hi, Last seson at the Jericho store in L.I.,NY, they were selling Boston Ferns without indicating they are not hardy in this area. Why doesn't HD indicate the hardiness of plants they sell. It's very misleading not to.

How disappointing for you. Garden centers often sell plants they consider seasonal annuals in areas where the winters are cold. These same plants would be perennials in warmer winter regions or used as houseplants in your region and I agree, there should have been some kind of sign or tag on the plant. If you purchase another Boston Fern, enjoy it outdoors on a deck or patio during the summer months but take it indoors for the fall and winter months.
