I have a concrete patio and I want to put a 4X4 raised bed for a veggie garden. How deep does it need to be to grow veggies in this planter? There is one for sale that is 8

Your garden bed should be at least 12" deep for most vegetables to provide adequate root room - 18 inches deep is better. The problem with something only 8 inches deep is that the soil will heat up during the summer, especially when sitting on concrete in the summer sunshine. I'd go deeper to keep the soil cooler and to provide enough room for the roots to grow without begin overcrowded.
