When to Plant - Knowledgebase Question

I live in NJ and want to know when I can begin to by plants, and put them into the ground. I was told that after Mothers Day that it is safe, but can I plant earlier without fear of one last frost

Your average last frost date is about mid-May so if you plant them now you'll need to be ready to cover your new plants if frost is predicted. Plants won't really make much headway until both the soil and the air temperatures are warm so planting early won't really give them much of a head start. I'd wait at least 3 more weeks before planting. Best wishes with your garden.
