I have several leyland cypress trees that are dying and I would like to replace them with some type of hedge. I was told privet is fast growing and tolerats trafic. Would it be a good substutition? It will be right up to the road. Salt and fast cars will be an issue.

Privet, Winterberry, Arrowwood viburnum and rosa rugosa (KnockOut roses) are all tolerant of salt spray. Of these, privet and rosa rugosa are the fastest growing. Best wishes with your new privacy screen.
