I wanted to know if Zinnias come back year after year or if they have to be replanted? If they are perennial, is there anything that needs to be done to them, for the winter months?

Zinnias are annuals and therefore die and return from seeds. They will keep coming back each year from last year's plants if you do not remove the flower heads after blooming, but rather leave them to mature and drop their seed. However, most varieties are hybrids and therefore will not produce offspring true to the form and/or color of the parent plant. Therefore, starting with new seed is recommended if you want to grow a special hybrid variety.
