We recently had two large tree stumps (Oak and Cottonwood) removed from our back yard, which produced two hugh piles of bark mulch, is it safe to spread it on our flower/veg garden if mixed with Pine Bark Mulch or other ? Our neighbor stated that it will devolep termites. (The dead trees were cut down a year ago). P.S.Ilove |
| Wood chips are an excellent mulch material and you won't need to mix it with pine bark mulch. The wood chips won't necessarily be attractive to termites but if you're concerned, just rake through the mulch a few times a year to check for pests. I rake through mine just to fluff it up a bit in the spring and again in the fall. I've yet to find any termites or ants nesting in the mulch. Glad you like the Ask the Experts feature!
