|The roots of your lilac bush are not considered invasive so you won't find new lilacs coming up among your flowers but you will see upright suckering growth near the base of the plant as your lilac matures. You can cut them off at ground level if you want your lilac to have a single stem, or you can allow them to grow and you'll have a thick lilac bush. Best wishes with your garden!
