|Tampa fl. My firebushes suffered much damage last winter during the freeze. I pruned them down in Feb. Now there are new stems coming from the base with new leaves, but the old stems I left are sticking up about 18

|I tend to agree they need to be pruned off your shrubs. New growth from the base indicates the roots are still alive but no leaf growth on the remaining stems indicates they are dead. I would prune out anything obviously dead to make room for the new growth at the crown of the plant. Hope your firebushes grow quickly!
