I am looking to plant a fast-growing tree in my backyard that will grow to about 15-20 feet. I would prefer trees with white or red leaves/flowers.

My first thought is Prunus cerasifera 'Thundercloud', or Thundercloud Plum. It's an ornmental (no fruit) but has pink springtime flowers and dark purple foliage all season long. It grows about 20' high and is fast growing. Or, Malus 'Spring Snow'
(Spring Snow Crabapple) which is a sterile variety of flowering crabapple with pure white flowers. Growth to 18 ft tall. Another suggestion is Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy', the Forest Pansy Eastern Redbud. And finally, Chionanthus virginicus (White Fringetree) might work for you. Best wishes with your new tree!
