| Pepper seeds require light and warmth to germinate. Try germinating them indoors by sowing just on the surface of moistened seed starting mix and pressing them in with your hand. Cover the tray or pots with plastic wrap to hold in moisture and then place in a warm area (on top of the refrigerator or next to a water heater), or on propagation mats. Seeds will sprout in 21-30 days at 70F to 75F degrees. Remove the plastic wrap and place your seedlings under a source of bright light. They should be ready to transplant out into the garden in 4-5 weeks. Your climate will be warm enough to produce peppers if you get your seedlings into the ground by the first of May.
