|I once ate big sweet delicious carrots in a restaurant. I asked them what type they were and was told "Canadian Carrots". I wanted to grow them this past summer but could not find seeds or plants. Do you carry them?|
|To be honest, I think they meant the carrots were grown in Canada rather than the particular variety name.
Carrots are normally grown from seed and there are many varieties of carrot seeds available. Many seed houses including Burpee offer a good number to select from. Your choice will depend somewhat on your soil type; size and sweetness are partly due to the variety and partly due to the care you take when growing and harvesting them. Your County Extension (tel. 328-4800) may be able to suggest some varieties that do particularly well in your local area.
You may also wish to visit the Burpee web site at http://burpee.com/ or call toll free at 1-800-888-1447 Mon.- Fri. 9 am - 8 pm ET, Sat. & Sun. 9 am - 5 pm ET to request the current catalog -- it includes descriptions of the different varieties to help you make your selection.
Good luck with your carrots!
