I'm a renter, but my landlady said we could do whatever we wanted with the yard. Most of it has pretty decent soil, but there's a part near the street that is nothing but hard clay. I got some compost and the landlady's tiller is in the shed, but I couldn't figure out how to unlock the wheels. Plus, it seems dangerous to use. Is there anything I can do other than dig the clay out with a shovel? |
You can use a hand-held rotary garden cultivator. One brand name is Garden Weasel. It has a long handle and a series of blades which you move back and forth over the soil. Check it out at your local Home Depot! |
