|You can sharpen the tines by filing them lightly. I suspect the grass roots are thickly woven together into a mat and you'll need to make several passes before you can break them up. Just keep at it and eventually you'll break through! Or, you can dig straight down through the roots with a shovel in several places and then run your tiller over the area. Good luck with your project!
