If you see tiny insects in the soil surface, they can be mites, springtails or even fungus gnats. All feed and breed in decaying organic matter. The easiest control is to drench the potting soil with Gnatrol or Insecticidal soap. Both are considered acceptable to organic growers. Be sure to apply according to label directions.
