when to prune a new forsythia shrub - Knowledgebase Question

I just planted a new forsythia bush.the flowers are almost done blooming.is it safe to prune it or is it better to wait until next year?

I'd wait until the plant is well established to do some overall pruning. With the exception, perhaps, of an errant branch or two. If you have something sticking way out from the rest of the shrub you can prune if off. Otherwise, wait until after it has flowered next year and then prune it back. Enjoy your landscape!
