If you're growing tomatoes in containers, don't use garden soil. Instead, use potting soil. With potting soil, there's no need to add lime. If you are growing tomatoes in the garden and your garden soil is very acidic you can mix about a cup of lime into the soil, working it in to a depth of 8-10 inches before planting your tomato plant. Don't add lime after the plant has been planted. Best wishes with your tomato plant.
