Hello,
I planted some grass seed in a couple of bare spots 5'X 7' on my lawn. The grass is now about 6

It's way past time to cut your grass! It should be mowed when it reaches 3" in height and you should take off only an inch. I'd set the mower really high and mow the new grass; wait a few days for it to recover and then mow it down to about 3". If you mow it that low all at once you'll scalp it and it will turn brown so reduce the height of the blades only about an inch each time you mow. Best wishes with your lawn!
