I would like to wood chip a 15 x 25 foot area that already has grass. What do you think ? Should I till the area 1st,do I need to put down netting before the wood chips? I wouls loveto use all cedar chips but that is very costly so I plan on adding cedar chips around the boarders to help rid fleas and other pest. I am also enclosing the area with your picket fence sections and polls.

I'd remove the grass prior to placing the bark chips. You can either rototill it up and rake it out or you can use a vegetation killer such as Round Up. Once the grass is dead (or rototilled and raked out), cover the area with a weed barrier landscape fabric. This will keep weeds from sprouting. Then cover with cedar or cypress. Go with the largest nuggets you can find, or use shredded bark. Both will stay in place even under doggie foot traffic. Enjoy your landscape!
