You may be accidentally crushing the stems when you're handling them or maybe you're damaging the roots when you dig them out of the starter pots. Here's what I do: prepare the new container by filling with moistened potting soil and tamp it down then lift out a little soil in the center to make room for the new plant. Dig and lift each plant with a kitchen fork. This way you won't be touching the plant except with the fork. You can lift, transfer and set the plant into its new home with the fork. Be sure it is setting at the same soil level as it was growing before. Then water it well to help settle the soil. Hope this information helps!
