Some attractive low maintenance groundcovering plants you might consider planting include Yellow Zinnia (Zinnia grandiflora), Texas Lantana (Lantana urticoides),
Damianita (Chrysactinia mexicana), Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa),
Sundrops (Calylophus berlandieri), Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii), Mealy Sage (Salvia farinacea) and Prairie Verbena (Glandularia bipinnatifida). They all grow well in your region and once established won't require much in the way of care. Hope this short list is helpful!
