Azaleas can be sensitive to herbicides so rather than resort to the big guns, I'd pull out the vines, roots and all. Or, at least cut them down to ground level and spot spray the stubs with Round Up or a similar product. Since it is a vegetation killer you'll want to keep it away from your azaleas, but painting or spraying the stubs of the vines should kill them, roots and all, without harming your azaleas.
