|Are the small bright red cherries on the hedge edible are just for show? Can the hedge be pruned this time of year? I have 3 hedges and they are really spreading out beautifully but need to be trimmed down for a more uniform look. Thanks for your help.

|Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora) fruits are edible and you can shear your plants to make a more uniform hedge. If you don't care about the fruit, prune them after they have finished flowering. If you do want to harvest the fruit, prune after you've harvested the fruit. Best wishes with your landscape.
