I have lots of ladybugs in my garden and wondering if diatamateous earth will hurt them.

It can harm them. Diatomaceous Earth is essentially the finely ground fossils of prehistoric fresh water diatoms. It controls beetles and ants (and ladybugs) by scratching their bodies and causing them to dehydrate. I hope the lady's don't come in contact with it.
