I purchased plum and apple trees from HD. They are in 5 gal. pots with fabric around the roots. The planting directions do not indicate if this fabric should be removed, left intact or cut. What is your advice? Thanks

It's best to remove the burlap or fabric prior to planting your tree. This will release the roots and encourage them to grow outward rather than around and around in the shape of the rootball. Best wishes with your new trees!
