You can leave your tulip bulbs in the ground. After the flower has faded, cut the flowering stem off the plant but leave the foliage alone. It will be busy transporting energy back into the bulb for next year's flowering. When the leaves die down on their own you can pull or cut them from the plant. While you can then dig and store the bulb for planting next fall, most gardeners simply leave them in the ground. They will be perfectly happy in the ground all summer long. Enjoy your garden!
