I have a crabapple tree with a vertical split in the bark of the main truck. Beneath the bark looks okay.
What should I do?
Thanks.

If just the bark is split, the tree will callous over the split and there's nothing you can or should do. Split bark can be the result of winter sun shining on the bark which makes it expand. A tree guard can be placed over the trunk to prevent further splits. Best wishes with your tree.
