The standard rule of design is to place the tallest plants in the back of the border, followed by the moderate sized plants, with the lowest or trailing plants in the front. There's no reason you cannot follow this same rule for a border along the driveway. Think of the beginning of the driveway as the front and the garage or destination as the back of the bed. Graduate the plant sizes from beginning to destination. Best wishes with your border!
