We have several live oaks in our yard and we have been mowing down the little sprouts that are coming up from either the roots or the acorns that have grown. There are thousands of sprouts. To get rid of them do we have to take up the grass and dig out the soil under the trees? Is there something we can spray on them? Zip Code is 78250.

I wish there were an easy and permanent fix, but as long as you have oak trees, you'll have to deal with suckers emerging from the roots of the oaks. And, unless you carefully rake or vacuum up the acorns each year, you'll have lots of new little trees sprouting each spring. There is a product called Suckr Stopper that works somewhat so you might want to give that a try.
