I live in the Mid-Atlantic region. How often should I water my shaded begonias? Also are shaded begonias annuals or perennials?

Bedding begonias are annuals. They are also called fibrous rooted begonias. Angel Wing or tuberous begonias are perennials but they need to be dug in the fall and the tubers overwintered in a cool but above freezing place, then replanted each spring. Bedding begonias prefer moist soils. Water when the top of the soil begins to dry out but not so often that the soil remains soggy wet. Just stick your finger down into the soil. If it is still moist a half inch beneath the soil surface you won't have to water for a few days; if it feels dry, it's time to water again. Enjoy!
