Lagerstroemia are moderate feeders. Fertilize monthly during the growing season (spring through summer), by broadcasting one-quarter pound of 12-6-6 per inch of trunk diameter, under the canopy of the tree. (Total of one pound per growing season.) If your tree is young (only an inch or two of trunk diameter), use only 1/2 that amount per feeding. By sprinkling the granular fertilizer evenly under the canopy of the tree, the nutrients will be washed down equally to all the feeder roots.
