Squash plants set both male and female flowers. The male flowers appear first, followed by female flowers. You can continue to harvest some of the male flowers, but you'll want to leave the female flowers alone so they can develop fruits. Male flowers have a straight stem behind the petals where the flower attaches to the stem; female flowers will have a bulge or roundish area just behind the flower petals. This is where a new squash will develop. Enjoy your squash and squash blossoms!
