Location for Gardenia tree - Knowledgebase Question

north port, Fl

Getting mixed inputs on location. Can the gardenia tree be planted on the west side of the house, in Florida? There is no shade after the sun hits, about 11 am. So there is full, hot sun from 11 to 5 after which the sun is quite low.

I don't think your gardenia tree will be happy in hot afternoon sunshine. I'd find a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade. While it may grow on the west side of your house, it won't flower - the site will be too hot and dry. I'd find another spot for it and it will reward you with lots of flowers.
