I bought 2 palms, smaller ones. the label says 5 gal phoneix roeb. I'm not sure how to care for them, do I cut off the lower branches and should I trim off the brown ends? I just repoted them and they seem to do well with water 1x/day so far.

You can trim off the lower fronds as they begin to turn yellow. Until then they are busy making and transporting energy back into the trunk and roots. The brown tips can indicate overwatering or salt burn. Excessive salts can build up in the soil of containerized plants. You can leach the salts out by flooding the soil two or three times in succession. Do this every 2-3 months and it should eliminate the brown tips from forming on the new growth. Enjoy your new palms!
