I have dead grass spots on lawn where leaves were left over the winter. What do I need to do to prepare the lawn for grass seed?

All you need to do is vigorously rake the dead areas so the grass seeds will make good contact with the soil. Sow your seeds and cover over them with a thin layer of peat moss or compost. Keep the seeded areas moist and the seeds should sprout in 7-10 days.
