When raking the soil in preparation for
St. Aug. plugs, I raked up long thin roots and am wondering if these are St. Aug. runners beneath the ground or are they dollar weed roots? We had much dollar weed in that area. Should these be pulled up? Thank you.

I really can't identify the roots without seeing them so I'm at a loss. St. Augustine roots can penetrate deeply into the soil and they are generally long; dollar weed roots can do the same. I'd pull the roots out and install the sod. If Dollar weed appears you can use a product called Image. It's safe to use on St. Augustine turf and will control Dollar weed. Wish I could help more!
