On March 17, 2010 I planted red onions and white potatoes.
How am I able to determine when to harvest them?

Both will be easy to determine the right time to harvest. The onion tops will begin to turn yellow and bend over. When this happens you can harvest the bulbs. Potato plants will develop flowers later this summer. The flowers indicate below ground tubers are beginning to develop. You can harvest a few of these "new" potatoes or you can wait and harvest everything when the tops of the plants die down on their own. Hope you have a great harvest!
