If I put weeds in my compost pile, will it seed my yard with weeds when I eventually use it.

If your compost cooks - gets really hot - it can kill weed seeds. But the key is to keep the pile cooking. While composted weeds themselves won't spread, any weeds that have gone to seed have the potential to spread. Unless the weed seeds are killed during the composting process, they can sprout wherever you use the compost. To be safe, don't compost any weeds that still have flowers or seedheads attached.
