last yr. I bought two of these, not sure on the spelling, and I believed them to be perennials. They are doing nothing as of yet. Is it because of the cool weather we are having? I live in Ft. worth, tx.

Pride of Barbados, Caesalpinia pulcherrima, is also known as Peacock Flower and Mexican Bird of Paradise. These are perennial plants and evergreen in frost free areas, but can die down to ground level is the winter is cold. They love the heat and will sprout new growth when the weather warms up. If it's still cool in your garden, it may take a few more weeks for new growth to emerge. I'd wait patiently. I think yours will sprout soon.
