white slime on roses - Knowledgebase Question

I have Knockout roses and there is white slime forming on them it almost looks like someone spit on them. What is this and how does one get rid of it. Thank you.

The foamy spots are from spittle bugs. They are small insects and the foam they create helps protect them from other insects. You can hose them off your roses and they will find another place to feed. They don't really do a lot of damage, but they don't look very nice! Just wash them off with a strong stream of water.
