Different seeds have different requirements; some need light to germinate, and others need darkness. Without knowing which seeds you're planting, we can only give some general guidelines. To be on the safe side, plant seeds only about two times as deep as they are wide. Therefore, if you have small seeds, place them just on the surface of soil or seed starting mix and press them in with your hand to barely cover the seed. If you have large seeds, like beans or peas, you can plant them about one-half to one-inch deep. Hope this helps.
