I am looking for a fast growing shade tree about 40' max height and 30' max canopy with a small and non-evasive root system. What are my options?

A large shade tree will have a large root system so you'll be better off growing a smallish tree or one with a deep root system such as an apple tree. Some to consider include Trident maple, ornamental or purple leaf plum, or American Linden (Tilia americana). Hope these suggestions are helpful.
