|Getting them ready for winter?|
|Established trees suited to your local hardiness zone generally require no preparation for winter. Newly planted trees will benefit from regular watering until the ground freezes (check the soil with your finger to see if it is moist or dry), and also appreciate a layer of organic mulch. The mulch should cover the root zone but should not touch the trunk. Some gardeners wrap the trunks of new trees to protect them from winter sunscald. If you do this, be sure to remove it next spring so that the trunk may expand as the tree grows.
If you have concerns about a particular tree, please ask again at the website giving a bit more detail.
