is it too late to plant potatoesin the garden? I live in glendale,az.

Potatoes are planted in January or February in the Phoenix area. They take from 90 to 120 days to grow to maturity. Planting them in the winter assures they will be ready to harvest before really hot weather sets in. Here's a publication from Arizona State University with recommended planting dates for vegetables:
