I am looking for the following plant: strobilanthes dyerianus. I don't know the common name. It looks like a coleus plant and is pink and metallic green. Do you sell it in seed or plant form? I saw it at a botanical garden but it was misidentified as a coleus by the staff. A picture of it is in the December issue of Country Living Gardener, page 84. It may be a tropical plant. Thank you for your help, and for this great gardening site!

Strobilanthes dyerianus is known commonly as "Persian Shield". It is a tropical, it will only take temperatures down to 55F. It is great for a greenhouse, or under the right conditions, it can be grown as an annual outdoors. Because it has tropical requirements, it would be very challenging as a houseplant. It took some doing, but I did locate it for you. It is available from Logee's Greenhouse, phone them at 1-888-330-8038.
